Hello San Diego!

Here's what's happenin' around town:

Also, there will be an Irish Dance Performance at Pacific Highlands Ranch. The Chinese Historical Society will host an online talk on the Dragon Boat Festival and the Symbolism in the Poem “Li Sao”. At the UCSD Epstein Family Amphitheater, Red Baraat will merge hard-driving North Indian bhangra with elements of hip-hop, jazz, and raw punk.

Next Sunday, the House of Iran will hold its annual Lawn Program to celebrate the Persian New Year known as Nowruz. At Ocean Front Walk, they will hold a Holi Beach Festival. The Flamenco music and dance show at the Turquoise will feature "guitarrista" La Caro. At the Soda Bar, Halluci Nation will perform a blend of genre-bending mix of hip-hop, reggae, dubstep, and First Nations musical traditions.

Local theatrical productions include Molière's Tartuffe (held over) at North Coast Rep and Midsummer Night's Dream at the Coronado Playhouse.

Please note that after two weeks in the main calendar section, ongoing events (such as exhibitions and plays) can be found in Ongoing and Extended Events.

CD of the Month

Our International Music of the Month suggestion is Mis 30 Mejores Canciones (My 30 Best Songs) by Atahualpa Yupanqui.

Born Hector Roberto Chavero Aramburu, Atahualpa Yupanqui wasn't just a composer and guitarist; he was a musical embodiment of Argentina's landscape and history rising to become a legendary figure in Latin American folk music.

Book of the Month

Our International Book of the Month is The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy.

In this Man Booker Prize-winning debut novel set in Kerala, India, fraternal twins Estha and Rahel navigate a childhood disrupted by societal constraints and family intrigues, leading to a poignant exploration of memory, loss, and the profound impact of seemingly insignificant moments.
